Build your family tree — private, offline, and free
Salasilah keeps every name, photo and relationship in a database on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and it keeps working with no internet connection.
Interactive tree
Pan, zoom and tap any person. Add parents, partners and children and the tree redraws itself with clean, uncrossed branches.
Details that matter
Birth and death dates, places, birth order, occupation, phone, WhatsApp, social links, photos from your camera, and notes.
Yours alone
Everything lives in a local SQLite database in your browser. No server, no account, no tracking of your family data.
Print and back up
Export the whole tree, or a single branch, as PNG or PDF. Take a .sqlite or JSON backup to move between devices.
Questions about Salasilah
Is Salasilah free to use?
Yes. Salasilah is completely free, has no accounts, no subscriptions and no ads. You do not need to sign up or give an email address to build your family tree.
Where is my family tree stored?
Your family tree is stored in a SQLite database that lives entirely inside your own browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so no one else can read your family data. You can export a .sqlite or JSON backup file at any time.
Does Salasilah work offline?
Yes. Salasilah is a progressive web app, so after the first visit it works with no internet connection at all. You can install it to your home screen on Android and iOS and use it like a normal app.
What details can I record for each family member?
You can record names and maiden names, gender, date and place of birth, birth order, occupation, phone, email, WhatsApp, social media links, a photo taken with your camera, and free notes. If a person has passed away you can also record the date and place of death.
Can I print my family tree or share it?
Yes. You can export the whole tree as a PNG image or a PDF sized to fit it, ready for printing. You can also export a single branch — one person plus their partners and descendants — so in-law families at the same level are left out.
Can I move my family tree to another device?
Yes. Export a .sqlite or JSON file from the menu, move the file to the other device, then use Import to load it. Photos and all relationships come across with it.
